De'Sean Roby — Principal
I've come full circle and returned to the building I started in when I began working with AISD. It is a joy and honor to be the principal of Bertha Sadler Means YWLA. My name is De'Sean Roby, and I am a product of AISD. I attended Winn Elementary, Read Elementary, Lamar Junior High School, and McCallum High School. I have spent most of my 26 years in education at the middle school level; fifteen of those years have been at Title I campuses.
My specialty is in English Language Arts, and my passion is curriculum. I want all students to be excited about learning. I have been an instructional coach, an academic dean, and an assistant principal. My philosophy has always been, I'm not your teacher; I am your learning guide. My expectations are high, and my goal is to see Sadler Means students reach their potential.
Patti Estep — Assistant Principal

My name is Patti Estep, and I am very excited to be your child's new assistant principal this 2020-2021 school year. I was born and raised in East Austin and am a product of AISD, Go Maroons! This is my 20th year in education with most of my experience at the middle school level. I taught middle school math for 10 years at both Martin MS and Bedichek MS. I then dedicated myself to working with all secondary campuses as an English Language Learner/Math Curriculum Specialist. While working with the Multilingual department I found a great interest in the district's Dual Language program and became the MS Dual Language Program Coordinator where I helped support the first 8 middle school campuses with program implementation. Although I gained a great deal of knowledge at the district level, I truly missed being on a campus surrounded by students daily. I am now in my 5th year as an assistant principal with 2 years of experience at the high school level.
My mission is to support our students during this delicate adolescence time in their lives and at the same time prepare them for the successes and challenges that await them in high school.
Natasha Bedford — Assistant Principal
My name is Natasha Bedford and I’m one of the Assistant Principals here at Sadler Means! I love being a dragon and being a part of this rewarding school community. I started my education career at Angelo State University and received my master's degree from Grand Canyon University.
This is my 14th year in Austin ISD all at the middle school level, I previously taught English Language Arts here at Sadler Means and I'm excited about continuing my leadership career here. I love writing, creating media, and filming. I look forward to being involved in our Media, Visual, and Performing Arts Academy by highlighting the various opportunities that are available. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my family.
